Life Education

This term class 3 has been going to life education to study about drugs and alcohol and how it affects our human body. Drugs and alcohol can be really easy to find and also can be really easy to get. Lynn told us that when a teenager takes drugs and alcohol it can really damage their brain and body. It’s can cause a problem if they take too much drugs and they might get sent to the hospital.

A drug can be simply described as anything that one puts into their body that is not food, water or oxygen and it can changes the way the body works. When someone chooses to use a drug it enters the bloodstream and travels to the brain. It could slow down how the brain work. Lynn also told us that drug don’t chooses people but people chooses drug.

The drug is only needed just to feel normal when you are sick or something. More is needed to get the same feeling that they had when they first took the drug. This is called addiction. First you like it, then you want it, it leads into needing it and finally you start craving it.

Most addicts have a history of their beginning drug user, or drinking too much alcohol, as a teenager. If you're new to drinking alcohol you’ll start treating people differently and you’ll also get addicted to drinking. So always pick the right choices and never pick drugs or alcohol because if you do you’ll be ending up in jail.

Tennis Writing

Tennis is a challenging international sport played all around the world. It can be played against a single opponent or between two teams with two players on each side, each player uses a racket that will allow them to hit the tennis ball over the net on the opponents side. Today’s tennis balls are made out of hollow rubber ball fuzzy like material. The size of tennis balls is approximately 6.7 cm (2.63 in.) So when the opponent hits the ball it can go really fast.

They have to hit the ball over a low, tight tennis net and into their opponents court. The objective of this game is when you hit the ball, make it so that the other player cannot hit it back. Making them tired is the best way to win. Also hitting it on the side is the best. Tennis is really swift games because you have to be really fast trying to hit your opponent ball.

To be a tennis player you have to under go plenty of training, you have to hits many balls as you can. Also you have to be a fast runner, by doing running it can help you a lots with tennis. This sport is one of the best sport for me because it is one of my favourite sport out of all the sports and it is really fun to play. If you just give it a try maybe you will like it too.

Sailing, by Jan Trafford

Sailing by Jan Trafford
School Journal
Part 2 Number 4
2003.

WALT: Gather and interpret information

For what reasons was it ideal to go sailing on that particular day? The sky is blue there’s a light sea breeze blowing and it’s a perfect day for learning to sail.

Why do you think it was important to be initially learning on dry land? Because they have to learn all the name of the part and find out how to rig the boat so it’s ready to to sail on the water.

Referring to the images on page 12, what are they learning on the dry land? They are learning all the part of the boat, and learn how to sail the boat on the water.

Why are ‘Optimists’ ideal to use when sailing? So kids can go sailing and it will be safe and solid for them to go and have fun.

Find the other meaning for optimist, define it:
The Optimist is sturdy, safe , and unsinkable.

Why is the direction of the wind important when sailing? Because it is very important that you know where the wind is coming from so you won’t get stuck on the sea.

What clue did the instructor give the children, when trying to figure out the direction the wind was blowing in? Why would this make sense? Which parts of your face and neck feel cold that will help you feel know where the wind is coming from.

Find five important facts that are important when sailing an optimist.
The important thing of the boat is boom, rudder , tiller , sheet , and centreboard.

Why did Mark demonstrate how to tip the boat over? For what reason do you think he would have done this? So if their boat get tip over, and so they would know how to get back on the boat and get the water out.

Before getting in a Optimist, why do you think it would be most important to be a good swimmer? Because when your boat get tip over it very important that you know how to swim so you can be save.

Would you like to sail an Optimist, do you think it would be difficult? Why/why not? Yes it would be difficult because once at years 6 camp I went sailing and my boat got tip over.
